Master of Surgery (MS), after MBBS, is one of the most sought-after postgraduate medical courses for students aiming to specialize in surgical disciplines. MS focuses on developing advanced surgical skills, in-depth clinical knowledge, and hands-on operative experience.
MS is a postgraduate program with a duration of 3 years. The course emphasizes intensive surgical training, patient management, pre-operative and post-operative care, and clinical research. It prepares doctors to become skilled surgeons, consultants, and academic professionals.
The MS curriculum integrates theoretical learning with extensive practical exposure. Students participate in ward rounds, operation theatre procedures, emergency duties, seminars, case presentations, and dissertation work. The course is divided into three academic years, with progressive responsibility in surgical practice.
The candidate must have completed MBBS from a medical college recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Completion of one-year compulsory rotating internship on or before the date specified by the authorities is mandatory.
Admission to MS courses is based on NEET PG scores.
