Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) is a well-known undergraduate medical course under the traditional systems of medicine. Unani medicine is based on the principles of natural healing and focuses on maintaining the balance of bodily humors to promote health and prevent diseases.
BUMS is an undergraduate program with a total duration of 5.5 years, which includes 4.5 years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory rotating internship. The course integrates Unani medical science with modern medical subjects to develop skilled Unani practitioners.
The BUMS curriculum includes Unani philosophy, history of medicine, Ilmul Advia (pharmacology), Ilmul Amraz (pathology), Moalijat (medicine), Ilmul Jarahat (surgery), Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (preventive & social medicine), along with modern anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
The candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English from a recognized board.
Candidates must have qualified NEET UG, which is mandatory for BUMS admission in India.
Nationality: Indian Nationals, Foreign Nationals, OCIs, PIOs, and NRIs are eligible as per government guidelines.
The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of 31st December of the admission year.
