Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), after MBBS alternatives in medical science, is one of the most popular undergraduate professional courses in the field of dentistry. BDS focuses on the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of oral and dental diseases and conditions.
BDS is an undergraduate program with a duration of 5 years, which includes 4 years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory rotating internship. The course is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical clinical training in dentistry.
The BDS curriculum emphasizes hands-on clinical exposure along with classroom learning. Students receive training in dental anatomy, oral pathology, prosthodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, conservative dentistry, and preventive dental care.
The candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English from a recognized board.
Candidates must have qualified NEET UG, which is mandatory for admission to BDS courses in India.
Nationality: Indian Nationals, Foreign Nationals, OCIs, PIOs, and NRIs are eligible as per government norms.
The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of 31st December of the admission year.
